He is played in the film by Nick Gillard, the stunt choreographer for the Star Wars movies, and his name is Gillard's spelled backwards. At the time of his murder, Cin knew Vader as Anakin Skywalker, hero of the Republic. He was one of the Jedi seen murdered by Obi-Wan Kenobi and Yoda over the security holograms in the temple. Cin Drallig's dueling skills, as good as they were, were no match for Lord Vader's skills he fended him off with one hand (specifically his robotic hand) and slew him. In Revenge of the Sith, his apprentice, Serra Keto, was Force choked by Darth Vader during his purge of the Jedi Temple. Though he was not a member of the Jedi Council, his dueling abilities rivaled those of the Council members. In the novelization of Star Wars: Episode III: Revenge of the Sith, it is revealed that Yoda trained him in the lighstaber, and he in turn trained Obi-Wan.

He was a legendary lightsaber master and instructor. Cin Drallig was a Jedi Master in the years during and previous to the Clone Wars.
